5. SPEED & LIGHT PHOTOMARATHON

White Sands Park – At Art In The Park / Camera Club Info table
Sat 28 May 9am -12 noon

You are invited to have some fun with your camera and a bit of a challenge, shoot 6 images that represent 6 different topics in 3 hours. The topics are kept secret until the start, the images must be taken in the topic order set. Prizes will be awarded to the best judged photographer of the day. No need to register beforehand, simply arrive in time to start your race with your camera and memory card. Photomarathon details will be explained on the day, but can be viewed in advance on www.bayandbasincameraclub.org.au

Students are invited to enter artworks in the 8” x 8” canvas art competition for under 18’s living in the Shoalhaven region. The theme of places faces and spaces is open to creative interpretation in a visual response to aspects of community in students’ work.
There are two categories to enter with prizes of $150 – primary students & $250 – secondary students.

42. OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL ART COMPETITION

Student and Open Sculpture prizes for sculptures made from natural materials to represent and express the beauty of Jervis Bay. Prize pool $1000

Akira Kamada will give a short talk to participants about his artistic practice in response to the natural environment.
Participants will learn about the ephemeral nature of environmental sculpture and Instillation Art including the joys and challenges of working with the environment such as rain, wind, sun and sometimes animals.
Participants will try different techniques and be encouraged to work with recycled, organic and waste materials for their artworks in collaborative groups or as individual projects. It is hoped that some larger scale site specific works will be included in the opening ceremony at Moona Moona and other works exhibited in Tomerong bushland setting.

Jervis Bay Arts and Boobook On Owen invite artists in the Shoalhaven region to enter the ‘All the Light You See’ open art competition and exhibition. Artworks should explore the theme ‘All the Light You See” in a 20″ x 20″ canvas format. The exhibition of artworks will be on display in Boobooks On Owen from 20 May – 13 June.

96. LIGHT UP JERVIS BAY SHORT FILM

Huskisson Community Hall, 17 Dent St Huskisson
Sat 28 May 7–9:30pm

Short films with festival theme ‘Illuminate’ max length 5 mins in Windows Media or AVI format, under 18s and Open. Prize pool $500 with a $250 prize for each category winner.
Keeping with the theme of this years festival theme entries should reference at some point in the film the idea of ‘Illuminate’ e.g.. light suddenly appearing on someones face. Films should remain within a 2-5 minute time period.

Selected Light Up Films will be shown and awards given at Huskisson Community Hall, 17 Dent St Huskisson (following PechaKucha)

97. MARINE DEBRIS ART COMPETITION

World Environment Day on June 5th each year puts a worldwide focus on human interactions with the environment and World Oceans Day on June 8th celebrates our oceans and our personal connection to the sea.
To raise awareness of the marine environment and encourage us to think about how the things we do can affect local marine species and the ocean, the Jervis Bay Marine Park is holding a Marine Debris Art Competition and Exhibition.
Artists are invited to use man-made marine debris to create at least 50% of the artwork itself or the image portrayed in the artwork and respond to the topic of marine debris and the marine environment. Entry categories for primary and high schools, and an Open category for artists 16 years and over.

Book Voucher Prizes and $250 Open Prize.

Under 18 Poetry Prize

The under 18 poetry prize was awarded to Sanctuary Point Public School for the excellent entries from the primary students. Their teacher is Helen Rhodes

The judge for the Seechange Open Poetry Competition was Irene Wilkie, well known poet who has published books as well as winning numerous prizes and awards.

Her award goes to : “You Were my Love” ( a pantoum), by Chere Le Page.

62. POETRY SLAM

Winners of the Poetry Slam

Shae Lamond won the poetry Slam Competition for the poem she wrote whilst sipping coffee at The 5 Little Pigs. John Walker and Annette Pham’ poems were highly commended.

61. FACEBOOK SIGNATURE DISH PHOTO COMP – ART ON A PLATE

Throughout the month of the festival, the restaurants and cafes participating will each create their own ‘signature dish’.
Upload a photo of your favourite to the Huskisson Food Network and Co. Facebook page and you will have the chance to win a fabulous dining experience for two at one of these participating establishments.
